About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-oriented Boom Truck Driver to join our team. The Boom Truck Driver will be responsible for operating a boom truck to transport materials, equipment, and other cargo to and from job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience driving heavy trucks, particularly those equipped with cranes or booms, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Operate a boom truck and other heavy vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and supplies to various job sites, ensuring safe and timely delivery.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking the boom, load capacity, and rigging equipment to ensure safe operation.
Secure loads and ensure proper weight distribution before transportation.
Operate the boom to load and unload materials safely and efficiently, following all safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including load weights, job site details, and timesheets.
Collaborate with job site supervisors and project managers to ensure efficient delivery schedules and meet project timelines.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies regarding safety, inspections, and maintenance.
Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the boom truck to ensure its optimal operation.
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area, including clearing debris and hazards from loading and unloading zones.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience operating boom trucks is required.
Certification in boom operation and knowledge of crane safety is preferred.
Proven experience as a Boom Truck Driver or in a similar heavy vehicle driving role.
Strong understanding of safety regulations related to transportation and heavy machinery operation.
Ability to read and interpret maps, road signs, and delivery instructions.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with loading and unloading heavy materials and machinery using cranes or boom trucks.
Familiarity with general construction practices and various types of materials used in construction projects.
OSHA certification or safety training related to boom truck operation.
Work Environment:
The Boom Truck Driver will primarily work in outdoor environments, often at construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and dust.
The role may require long hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and potential overtime.
